Senate Bill 94 Passed to allow NPs to order radiologic diagnostic tests in Georgia

Posted about 11 years ago by Brandy McCrary

Dear GA AANP member,

Great news! The senate subcommittee unanimously passed Senate Bill 94 yesterday. This is the first step in for a bill that will allow NPs to order radiologic diagnostic tests in Georgia. The bill still has a steep climb and has to pass several more committee hearings and get more votes before it can become law.  With your support, there is a good chance of improving care for our patients this year.

 ACTION REQUEST:

The Senate Health Committee will be hearing this bill and voting on it next week.  Emails of support are needed over the weekend to encourage Senators to vote in support of the bill.  AANP is working with the Coalition of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses on this, and have attached their update with email contacts for the Senate committee members and a sample support letter to help you get involved.  Committee members take emails from all over the state, so you don’t need to live in their district to send an email. Please contact each committee member.

We estimate it will take you between 5-15 minutes to send an email to the committee members.  Please make time for your patients and send in your support email this weekend.  If you are running low on time,  even a simple, short email asking them to support SB 94 to improve healthcare in Georgia and including your name, home address would make a difference.

Thank you for being a strong voice for our patients, and taking a few minutes to improve care in Georgia!  Your work on the telemedicine rules made a difference. Your emails will make a difference on this bill, too.

AANP GA State Representative
